politics online is exploding.

Google executives spoke to the AAPC conference this past week about the rapid growth of politics online. Here are a few stats that leapt out at us:   Penetration: 68% of voters have internet access. 100% of “policy influencers have internet access and 87% of them rely heavily on the Internet for news. 1.6% of political advertising was spent on the Internet in 2008 but 68% of voters go online to get information about candidates and issues.  The Bob McDonnell (Gov. VA) campaign spent 7.5% of its ad budget online.  The Scott Brown Campaign (MA Senate) spent 10% of its ad budget online.
